The second thing is the beautiful sandy beaches. Big Island has beautiful beaches, the beautiful white sand beaches, black and green. Here are some of the most popular beaches.

One of the best white sand beaches you will ever see the Hapuna Beach is probably the most famous beach on the Big Island of Hawaii, and is often chosen as the best beaches in the world. Blue water and white sand beaches make it a requirement for both tourists and locals. If the waves are at a beach for swimming and snorkeling. But when the waves are big, wide bed of powder white sand, make sure it is an ideal place for sunbathing.

Makalawena Beach
Makalawena Beach is a wonderful white sandy beach which is very similar to the Hapuna, but what makes it unique is that sometimes you may get it all to yourself. It is out of the way and a challenge to get and keep a crowd of people away. You have to hike for about thirty minutes to get Makalawena hike is well worth it but you.

Should you be in the mood for a spectacular black sand beach, Punalu'u Beach stands out as the beach for you. It's the largest and most accessible black sand beach on the island. Green sea turtles are generally regular visitors to its shores. It is possible to see them relaxing on the luxurious black sand. Punalu'u even offers a fresh water pond filled with a multitude of fish.

And now for something truly out of the typical, the Big Island even has a green sand beach. No the sand is not green because of algae; it is green as it's made up of a green mineral known as olivine, which is common in lava rocks. Not many people get to Green Sand Beach as it entails a significant 5 mile round trip hike or an off road motor vehicle to reach there. Yet when you make it there, its lovely green sand is a sight to observe.
