Although, the official language of the Republic of Korea is Korean, English has been generally used in restaurants, hotels, info centers and public enterprises.

When traveling in Korea with children, trains are the best option of transportation. Children under 4 accompanied by an adult ride for free (children ages 4-13 get a 50% discount).

There are three kinds of public telephones found around Korea's cities. The gray telephones, blue telephones, and card telephones. All of them can be used for both long distance and local calls. Foreign money can be exchanged into Korean Won at any foreign exchange banks or authorized moneychanger.

In emergencies, dial 112 for police, and 119 for the fire department. A police box is placed on every significant street. Hotel front desks and managers can lend you a hand to organize for a doctor or ambulance.

UNESCO has listed nine of Korean cultural cites on the list of World Cultural Heritage Sites including Jongmyo Shrine; Haeinsa Temple Janggyeong Panjeon Hall; Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto; Hwaseong Fortress: Changdeokgung Palace ; Gyeongju Historic Areas; Gochang, Hwasun and Ganghwa Dolmen Sites; the 40 Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty; and, Historic Villages of Korea; Hahoe and Yangdong.

Koreans believe that the taste of food depends on its spices and sauces. Soybean paste, soy sauce, red pepper passed called gochujang and kimchi are the healthiest sample in Korean household and traditional Korean restaurant.
